The phase that will require you a lot of time and energy is the packing phase. Many people have accomplished this task, but it’s laborious. That’s why, as long as you get the final date of your move, you should get started with packing right away. To make it easy, create a packing strategy that will make the task quick.

Step 1: Create a Packing Calendar

Packing is challenging, that’s why you need a trustworthy and reliable guide to keep you motivated on the task. People who don’t have a guide sometimes lose will to carry on the task and find themselves cramming because the move date is drawing near. To avoid this hassle, come up with a packing schedule that suits you.

Decide on a specific date and what to pack. For example, you decide to pack things found on your attic on Monday, then garage on Tuesday, kitchen on Wednesday and so on. Create a schedule that works for you. The important thing is to work out on what to prioritize and the dates that it should be completed. This way, you will work on your way through packing without delays.

Aside from the moving calendar, it’s important to create a detailed moving checklist so you can check the progress of your moving process. Do not miss any moving task because it can affect the whole process.

Step 2: Get Packing Supplies

To get started with the packing process, get some supplies and materials. To get the exact kind of packing supplies you need, check and assess your belongings first. Then, get boxes of different sizes, bubble wrap, packing paper, packing tape and other materials.

Step 3: Start Packing

Now that you’ve planned out that to pack first, it’s time to start packing. First, make an inventory of your belongings. List down everything you own because it’s important to document everything. Write any information about the items that you find relevant, for example it’s current condition, type and amount. This inventory will be helpful for you to find out the size of your move and other packing materials you need. If you hire a moving company for long distance move, the list will be a proof of the current condition of your belongings.

After making the inventory, it’s time to organize the belongings. Sort out the items if it’s discarded, to be donate, or to be packed for the move. You can then start packing. You can begin with packing few boxes every day, depending on the schedule you prepared. Following the schedule will make the process efficient and easy.
