The YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity is a not-for-profit health and human services organization committed to helping people grow in spirit, mind, and body. Founded and supported by its community, the YMCA wants all of its programs and services to be accessible to everyone in that community regardless of age, background, ability, and income. It`s with this spirit that the YMCA is proud to offer the OpenDoors Program.
The OpenDoors Program is an income-based membership rate scale designed for household incomes below $60,000 for full privilege family memberships or below $40,000 for full privilege single memberships. Based on your household`s total income, you may qualify for 25% off the membership rate depending on your local YMCA. The one-step OpenDoors application is based solely on you or your family`s household income. Just present a copy of your most recent tax return to the member service desk at your local YMCA. Based on the information you provide, we will work with you to determine your income-based rate. Then, once you complete the simple application, you`ll be on your way to becoming our newest member.
Is your financial situation more complicated than that?
If so, ask consider YMCA`s Financial Assistance. This program considers your overall situation, including the number of dependents and monthly income and expenses. The program takes an extra step to ensure that we are able to make our programs and services accessible to all. As an OpenDoors or Financial Assistance member of the YMCA, you receive the same benefits as other members. You can feel great knowing that you`re involved in an organization that cares greatly for the health and well- being of the community and is committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
What if your financial situation changes over time?
The YMCA wants to make sure that your rate reflects that change. So every year on your membership anniversary date, your status will be re-evaluated. We will contact you ahead of time to give you ample opportunity to gather your tax return for the past year along with any other pertinent information. All memberships created through the OpenDoors and Financial Assistance Programs are subsidized by the YMCA`s Annual Support Campaign. Many generous donors, and even recipients of the program, contribute annually so that we can keep our doors open for all. Because the Y is for everyone!
